My Models

This is the JL Innovative Design Brookside Ice House kit. This is one of those that I'd love to do over again.

This was my first structure, an old Gloor Craft kit. I learned alot on this one. The weathering was accidently done by applying alcohol over Dullcoat.

thumbdlb7.jpg

This is the Period Miniatures Brewery kit. I didn't like the roof material so I replaced it with Campbell shingles and siding. I'm getting better.

I believe this is the American Model Builders Big Four Freight House. I can't believe I forgot what the name of this kit is!

thumbdlb9.jpg

The American Model Builders one story section house kit. Looks good in depot buff and brown.

thumbdlb10.jpg

This is an old Mainline and Siding kit. I was always told that they were a little on the expensive side, but I think they build up nice.

thumbdlb11.jpg

This was my first attempt at scratchbuilding. Not bad considering I thought you had to paint wood to make it look like real wood!? DUH!

thumbdlb12.jpg

These are two houses from the Grandt Line Reese Street Row Houses kit. To tell the truth I like working with wood better.

thumbdlb13.jpg

This water tank came from the Mainline and Siding Repair Shed kit(I think). I learned alot about building board by board structures from these M & S kits.

And this is the repair shed from the Mainline and Siding Repair Shed kit. If you're wondering, the hinges are nothing more than rectangles cut from a sheet of transparency material. Just bend the pieces and paint them black and viola, hinges!

thumbdlb15.jpg

This is the American Model Builders one story depot kit. My color selections were prior to my discovery of Colorado. The walk around the depot is a nice touch though.

thumbdlb16.jpg

The Mainline and Siding Feed Store builds up pretty nice. The roof was done with the old vinegar and steel wool technique. Don't tell anyone, there are no glasses in the second story. I forgot!

thumbdlb17.jpg

Cricket's Saloon is produced by Design Preservation Models. I had my doubts starting the building but I'm really pretty happy with it. I brought the brick detail out with a very diluted wash of pastels and water.

thumbdlb18.jpg

This is my first scratch built board by board structure. It's really not all that hard to do. Click on my "Scratch Building Plans" link for the plans and the parts list.

This is the Campbell Scale Models Ten Stamp Mill kit. If it doesn't look quite right, it's because it was built with the loading dock on the left side. I made an early mistake and had to do a quick fix.

This is the N Scale Architect Elkton Creek Smelter kit. Check the tips section for a little help.
